The Clothing Rack

Help keep families and children in your community warm by donating new and gently used winter items to our Clothing Rack.

Please consider donating your gently worn winter wear to the Clothing Rack @ First Lutheran Church. First Lutheran is uniquely situated between New Britain’s two main homeless shelters.   For the past three years we have offered a free weekly pasta supper to those in need in our community. Last year we started collecting winter clothing from within our congregation to our guests. The need is so great that we are establishing a Clothes Closet to keep up with demand.

As fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, we are appealing to congregations in our area for assistance in collecting winter items.

We are collecting cleaned & laundered:
Coats      Scarves      Blankets
Jackets   Fleeces       Boots
Hats        Mittens       Sweaters
Sleeping bags
(We are not collecting OTHER clothing items at this time.)
New items, especially hats and mittens are always appreciated!

Please drop off your items between:
10am—2pm
Tuesday—Thursday

** PLEASE NOTE: You will be expected to carry clothing down to the Clothing Rack room in our church basement and sort items into appropriate racks. Please bring enough volunteers to help with this activity!
