| Church School Spring Planting
|
On May 30th, 2010, the Church School celebrated the end of the
school year by planting hundreds of broccoli, tomatoes, lettuce and
other assorted vegetables in our backyard garden. The fruits of their
labor will feed those who come to our Wednesday's Pasta suppers.
This planting illustrates two of our emphases as a congregation -youth and green ministry.
We strive to give our youth a solid Christian foundation that entails serving others as they grow deeper in the Faith.
Our green ministry, born of the recognition that God has made us
stewards of this creation, has many facets.. Among the more important
ones is eating locally grown fruits & vegetables to both reduce
carbon footprint and improves our diet. The tragedy in the Gulf of
Mexico underscores how important it is to nurture and protect this
earth, given to use by a benevolent Creator.
Many thanks for Jennifer Kilps and Bruce Fletcher for helping to organize this event
