First Lutheran Church of the Reformation is committed to serving our friends and neighbors in our community. We hold foremost in our concern those who are homeless, un-or under-employed, in transition, struggling to meet ends meet. We echo Christ’s concern for the poor in our daily ministries. We offer many programs to our community including a weekly Pasta Supper which provides a hot, nutritious and free meal weekly for anyone who attends. Our clothing closet, The Clothing Rack, provides free clothing to any who are in need. Our Community Garden
located on the Glen Street side of the church grounds provides fresh
vegetable for our pasta suppers as well as free vegetables to our Pasta
Supper guests. Our Caring Network has been providing
care, conversation, prayer and communion for the shut-in or members of
our congregation in hospice for many years. Started in 1980 by Rev.
Alvar Gustafson the Caring Network has been one of First Lutheran’s most
effective and enduring programs. We participate in various Food Drives throughout the year with our proceeds going to the Osgood and Salvation Army food pantries as well as to the Friendship Center. |
